Decree for the Appointment of Members of the Committee for Jurisprudential Issues and Presentation in International Forums

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

We give thanks to Almighty God for granting us the success and opportunity in this era to present the jurisprudence of the Imamiyyah, which is based on the teachings of the school of the pure Household of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him and his family), in the scientific assemblies of the Islamic world. The jurisprudential foundations, research, and scholarly opinions of the esteemed Shia jurists, which are among the precious heritages of Islamic societies, are admired and marveled at by the experts and researchers of Islamic jurisprudence. In recent years, representatives of the Islamic Republic from the seminary of Qom and other jurisprudential centers of Islamic Iran have been able to play a significant role in presenting and solving today's jurisprudential questions in international jurisprudential forums and facilitating the response to the current needs of the individual and the Muslim community from the perspective of Islamic law.

It now seems necessary, to complete this important role and fulfill the mission entrusted to the scholars of the Ummah in clarifying Islamic subjects and rulings, to form a committee of distinguished experts and scholars from the seminaries to jointly scrutinize and examine new subjects and issues and prepare the purest achievements of Imamiyyah jurisprudence for presentation in international jurisprudential forums. The main task of this committee is to provide scholarly and researched jurisprudential responses to the issues that the current state of the world and the ever-new scientific advancements pose for the individual and the Muslim community today. However, the fruits and achievements of such a blessed committee will undoubtedly not be limited to this matter and, God willing, will have reciprocal influence and interaction with the jurisprudential centers within the country as well.

I appoint the esteemed scholars and Ayatollahs: Seyyed Mehdi Rouhani, Ahmadi Miyangi, Mohammad Mo'men, Seyyed Mahmoud Hashemi, Seyyed Kazem Haeri, Seyyed Mohammad Khamenei, Mohammad Ibrahim Jannati, Hassan Javaheri, Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, as the first members of this committee. I hope, under the auspices of His Holiness Baqiyatullah (may our souls be sacrificed for him), that the aforementioned gentlemen, who, thanks be to God, possess competence and distinction, will succeed in forming a blessed beginning for this committee and this initiative.
