Statements in Meeting with Officials of the System and Ambassadors of Islamic Countries
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I congratulate you, esteemed attendees, devoted officials of the country, and the honorable ambassadors of Islamic countries present in this assembly, as well as the great nation of Iran and the entire Islamic Ummah around the world, on the auspicious and great Eid al-Fitr.
Muslims everywhere in the world celebrate this day. Truly, Eid al-Fitr is a genuine celebration for the fortunate and faithful; it is indeed a day of reward from God Almighty for a month of voluntary discipline, fasting, and thirst, a month of restraining human desires during the day; these are very valuable. These exercises become a reserve for humans to be able to, throughout their lives, with willpower and firm determination, rein in and control their misleading desires. We human beings need this firm resolve to control our souls. The transgressions and rebellions of our souls make life difficult for ourselves and for others. This exercise that God Almighty has set for all humanity—where the believers respond to this divine call and undertake this discipline and training over the course of a month—is indeed a remedy for the great pain of humanity, which consists of following the whims of the soul, succumbing to desires, and yielding to the excessive demands of our souls. This exercise must be appreciated. Thanks be to God, Muslims around the world honor the month of fasting. Our dear nation has truly and justly honored this month, esteemed it, and fulfilled its duties during this month. We hope that on the day of Eid al-Fitr, God Almighty grants a celebration to the entire Islamic Ummah.
Today, the Islamic Ummah is engaged in significant events. As we understand and feel, this experience that is currently taking place in some countries of the Islamic world, where Islamic awakening has led to the people's presence in determining their own destiny, is one of the very important and valuable experiences in the history of Islam. What you observe happening in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen, Bahrain, and some other countries, where the people themselves have entered the scene, where nations have endeavored to take their destiny into their own hands, is one of those extraordinarily significant and decisive events; this can determine the course of Islamic Ummah's history and the trajectory of this region for a long time.
If the Muslim nations in this movement they have begun, God willing, can remain vigilant, can assert their will over the will of those who seek to interfere in Islamic countries, then for a long time, Islamic countries will have a progressive movement; however, if, God forbid, the enemies of Islam and Muslims—that is, the global arrogance, the leaders of domination, global Zionism, the arrogant and oppressive regime of America—manage to ride these waves, if, God forbid, they can overcome the resolve of the nations and take control of the situation, directing events towards their own desires, certainly the Islamic world will face significant problems for decades to come. The Islamic Ummah must not allow this. Political and cultural elites must not permit the enemies of Islamic countries to overcome the resolve of the Muslim nations.
Today is a day of great testing for Islamic countries and Muslim nations. Until now, the nations themselves were not aware of their capabilities to this extent. Today, nations know what power they possess and how effective their will can be. This awareness of nations about themselves is a great blessing. Of course, the world’s dominators and the leaders of imperial powers have also realized what is happening in the Islamic world; therefore, they will not remain idle; they too are plotting.
Today is the day for Muslim nations to return to their authentic Islamic identity. What exists within us in terms of strength, greatness, and dignity stems from faith in Islam and belief in divine support and reliance on God Almighty; this is the power that no power can overcome; we must manifest this more and more in our hearts and in our actions.
The dear nation of Iran has thus far been able to continue this steadfastness on the path and tread the straight path with all its strength and capability, and they are witnessing its effects. This thirty-year period of our revolution and country is one of the brightest periods in our historical life. Over these thirty years, successive generations, yesterday's youth, today's youth, today's adolescents—who are the youth of tomorrow—are all moving forward in these challenging arenas with a single goal, a single breath, and a single motivation. For thirty years, we, the Iranian nation, have stood against the malice and pressure of global arrogance—pressure from sanctions, threats; military threats, political threats, security threats—and by divine grace, we have overcome our enemies. They did not want to see the Iranian nation honored, powerful, progressive, and hopeful; however, despite them, today the Iranian nation is honored, progressive, powerful, self-reliant, and has a great outlook and hope for the future.
We beseech God Almighty to grant us, the Iranian nation, and the Muslim nations, ever-increasing dignity. O Lord! Elevate Islam and Muslims day by day.
Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings.
