Interview of the Supreme Leader with the IRIB Reporter After Casting Vote

2 min read342 words

You, like in previous years, attended the polling station at the beginning of the elections and cast your vote; please share what message and advice you have for our dear nation in these important and sensitive moments?

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Today is a sensitive day for our country and our nation; it is a decisive moment. Some days in a person's life have the characteristic of determining a significant part or section of their life. If we were to draw a comparison, it is like Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree), which is decisive for a person every year.

Election time is also decisive for a nation, for a period, for a moment. Therefore, I personally value this moment and advise our dear nation to appreciate it and, with their vote, their will, their determination, and their desire, clarify the legislative duty for the next four years, God willing.

And I make this recommendation, as always, that our dear people should not leave this great task for the last moment; they should come early. "The best of good deeds is that which is done promptly"; the best of good deeds is the one that is done early and at the right time. From now until evening, unforeseen circumstances may arise, and one may become flustered. There is plenty of time now; in this opportunity - in the early hours of the day - people should go.

Another recommendation of mine is to utilize all their rights. For example, in Tehran, where we need to elect thirty individuals, if we only select twenty-nine, we have not fully exercised our right. It is better to utilize all our rights up to the last part; that is, we should write down all thirty individuals. And likewise in any location, for however many candidates are there. God willing, may you all be successful and supported; both you and all these gentlemen.

May God, God willing, grant you all a good outcome and success, and accept your efforts. Goodbye.
