Weekly Meeting with Families of the Martyrs

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Welcome, dear brothers and sisters, esteemed families of the martyrs of the Sacred Defense and the martyrs of the Revolution. This nation will forever be indebted to your children. Everything this nation has achieved over the years, the dignity of this nation, the security of this nation, the progress of this nation, all of it is owed to these dear youths who left their homes, families, fathers, mothers, spouses, and children, and stood bravely against the enemy; an enemy that had the support of the entire world against us, both the West and the East, and at that time, the regional reactionaries, all supported this wicked Ba'athist enemy. If there had not been brave, courageous, and self-sacrificing youths like yours who went forth and placed themselves like a shield, like a barrier against the enemy, this enemy would have entered the country and shown no mercy.

Now you can see what is happening in North Africa, in some countries of the West Asia region. What happened in Iran with the presence of the Ba'athists was ten times worse than what is happening today in Libya, what lasted for years in Syria, and what occurred for a long time in Iraq, and so forth. Who prevented this immense historical and national loss? Your youths, these martyrs. In my opinion, the value of the families of martyrs, this father who has lost three martyrs, this mother who has lost three martyrs, some have lost three martyrs, some two, some five, and more, their value is no less than that of the martyrs themselves. That martyr was young, had emotions, had a spirit of epic, they went forward; this father and mother raised this bouquet of flowers, they worked hard, they brought them up, they raised them to this level, and they went before their eyes, and sometimes their bodies did not return.

The courage of fathers and mothers and the self-sacrifice of fathers and mothers, in my opinion, is no less than that of their youths, and I repeatedly tell the families of martyrs that may God not lessen the shadow of the families of martyrs over this nation. The families of martyrs have great rights, they are very valuable for this country, and the dear martyrs are truly the same. Now, their status before God Almighty is one thing, but their impact in the country and their existence in the country is also a very important matter. The enemy is waiting for an opportunity, waiting for a breach to enter through. Just observe the events of these past few days. All those who are against the Islamic Republic, those who have money, those who have politics, those who have weapons, those who have security apparatuses, all are working hand in hand to create problems for the Islamic system, the Islamic Republic, and the Islamic Revolution.

Now, God willing, I have some words regarding these recent events, I will speak with our dear people, God willing, at the appropriate time. The enmity remains as it is. What can prevent the actions of enmity is the spirit of courage, the spirit of self-sacrifice, and the spirit of faith, which was perfectly exemplified by your children, your youths, and my expression of respect to the families of martyrs is a true expression of respect. We recognize the value of the martyr and the family of the martyr, the father and mother of the martyr, the spouse of the martyr, and the child of the martyr; we know what great rights they have over our country, our revolution, our system, and our history. We hope, God willing, that the Almighty God keeps all of you safe and reunites your martyrs with the Prophet.
