Message of Condolence on the Martyrdom of Ayatollah Haj Sheikh Morteza Broujerdy
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Indeed, we belong to God and indeed to Him we shall return.
The distressing news of the assassination attempt on the esteemed scholar, Ayatollah Haj Sheikh Morteza Broujerdy, which led to his martyrdom, has caused me great sorrow and grief.
The sinful hands that have been stained with this bloody crime will undoubtedly face a severe retribution and a very bitter and painful future. That blessed martyr came from a distinguished family and was the son of a highly esteemed father, namely the late Ayatollah al-Uzma Haj Sheikh Ali Muhammad Broujerdy, and he himself was one of the prominent figures of the Najaf seminary, having a worthy share in the scientific and jurisprudential flourishing of that ancient seminary.
The loss of that pious and courageous jurist is a great loss for the seminaries, and for that great man who attained the honor of martyrdom, it is a tremendous blessing and eternal happiness.
I extend my condolences on his martyrdom to all seminaries, the esteemed grand jurists, his admirers and followers, and to his honorable and respected survivors, and I pray for them patience and great reward from the Almighty God.
