Message of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution on the Arrival of the Year 1385
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful O Turner of hearts and sights, O Manager of night and day, O Transformer of years and conditions, transform our state to the best state. This year, the first of Farvardin coincides with the days of Arbaeen of Hossein. Arbaeen itself is another Farvardin. The first blossoms of Ashura bloomed on Arbaeen. The first surges of the spring of Hosseini love - which has continuously flowed through the river of pilgrimage over these centuries - emerged on Arbaeen. The powerful magnetism of Hossein attracted the first hearts towards itself on Arbaeen; the journey of Jabir ibn Abdullah and Atiyyah to visit Imam Hossein on Arbaeen was the beginning of a blessed movement that has continuously and successively become more magnificent, more attractive, and more fervent over the centuries, keeping the name and memory of Ashura ever more alive in the world. The coincidence of the first of Farvardin with the Hosseini Arbaeen is, in fact, the convergence of two Farvardins; the convergence of two springs. While expressing condolences to all believers and all Shia and Muslims on the occasion of the Hosseini Arbaeen, I congratulate the Iranian people and other nations that honor Nowruz on the occasion of the New Year and the arrival of spring; especially to the self-sacrificers of our country and to the families of the Mojahedin and self-sacrificers who have strived with all their being and strength for the elevation of Islam and Iran. Thanks be to God, the country, aside from the spring of nature, is in a spring of hope, movement, and vitality. The coming to power of a popular government, and the epic of service and the enthusiasm of the youth in various fields, has placed the country in a Farvardin of hope and vitality; and a true celebration for any nation is such a situation. All of these are the blessings of public participation and national solidarity that the Iranian nation made the cornerstone of its work and efforts in the year 84. The successes of the nation - whether in terms of popular presence and public participation, or in demonstrating the indicators of national solidarity - were brilliant in the year 84. The magnificent elections and the fervent popular presence and the formation of a government arising from the people and committed to service; and the advancements and successes in various fields in the country were among the great successes of our nation in the year 84. It is true that alongside these great successes, we have also faced bitter experiences, painful losses, and injustices - whether in the respect for the Prophet Muhammad, the sanctity of the shrine of the Imams, in memory of the esteemed martyrs, or in the dignity of the Iranian nation - which the Iranian nation has endured in the past year; however, the revolutionary determination is that, with the help and power of God, we will build a staircase from the bitterness to the sweetness and transform hardships into hard work; this is the lesson of Islam and the lesson of the great Prophet of Islam. At this moment in time, the memory and name of the great Prophet are more alive than ever; and this is one of the measures of divine wisdom and hidden graces. Today, the Islamic Ummah and our nation need their great Prophet more than ever; for his guidance, for his good tidings and warnings, for his message and spirituality, and for the mercy that he taught and imparted to humanity. Today, the lesson of the Prophet of Islam for his Ummah and for all of humanity is the lesson of becoming knowledgeable, becoming strong, the lesson of ethics and dignity, the lesson of mercy, the lesson of jihad and dignity, and the lesson of resistance. Therefore, the name of this year is naturally the blessed name of the great Prophet. Under the shadow of this name and this memory, our nation must review the lessons of the Prophet and transform them into lessons for life and current programs. Our nation takes pride in being students of the prophetic school and the teachings of Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family). Our nation has raised the flag of Islam among the Islamic Ummah with steadfastness and strength; it has endured hardships and has witnessed the successes of presence in this field of honor and pride, and by God's grace, greater successes are on the way. We must incorporate the ethical lessons of the Prophet, the lesson of dignity from the great Prophet, the lesson of learning and the lesson of mercy and dignity, and the lesson of unity that he gave us into our life programs. Today, a determined and service-oriented government is present in the midst of the field, with a people ready to work and full of hope, and with enthusiastic and talented youth, which is a great promise for the future of our country and nation. We ask the Almighty God to be pleased with the pure spirit of the great Prophet and to increase His blessings upon that Prophet of mercy and dignity and upon his Ummah day by day; and to make the sacred heart of the Awaited Imam (may our souls be sacrificed for him) happy with us and to grant us success and support in traversing this difficult path; and to place the souls of the dear martyrs and the pure spirit of our great Imam in the company of His saints and righteous servants, filled with His blessings. Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings.
