Statements After Planting a Sapling on Natural Resources Week

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Tree planting day is a blessed day for the country; because plants and trees are a source of blessing for human life; however, we must appreciate these things; for instance, if I plant a sapling here and several thousand saplings are planted, but on the other hand, our forests are attacked or our ancient orchards are invaded, this is against the interest. I sometimes hear that these old, native, authentic Iranian species that have been in our forests are gradually diminishing; there is a fear that some of these authentic Iranian species in our forests may completely disappear; therefore, we must protect and safeguard them.

Well, for people to get used to planting trees is a very good thing, but both the people and the officials must get used to preserving this green space — especially the forests, especially the pastures — God willing; this is part of our duties. Of course, gentlemen and others talk a lot, but mere words are not enough; action is necessary, and instead of talking too much, we must act more. We hope, God willing, that God grants you all success.
