Statements After the Tree Planting Ceremony
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
First of all, we must thank all those who are active in expanding green spaces across the country and wish them strength from God. Secondly, we ask all officials and all our dear people to pay attention to the issue of green space and prevent the country, the nation, and the lives of the people from being deprived of this divine assistance, this great blessing of the Lord - which consists of plants, trees, and the like.
The issue of the environment is also very important; the matter of dust storms and the dust that comes into the country - which the Minister of Agriculture (1) reported to me a few days ago regarding this issue and its damages - is truly a very significant matter; and it is necessary for all officials of the country and all different sectors of the government to coordinate and cooperate to prevent this damage; it inflicts great harm on the country. Recently, I received a report regarding these dust storms which is a warning report; it is necessary to pay attention to it.
We urge the people to cherish trees and give importance to green spaces. The slogan "Every Iranian a tree" that is said and is on people's lips is a good slogan; they should try to increase tree planting as much as possible during these days - which are the days of tree planting and the tree planting season. Both the people and the officials, especially, should prevent any encroachment on green spaces; whether it is our forests, our pastures, or urban green spaces and everything surrounding the city; otherwise, if you do not confront this with strength and power, the Alborz mountain ranges that you see in Tehran will turn into iron and cement; that is, people will exploit it. Now, the fact that you say you have sat down and planned on this issue is very good; however, it must be visibly observed in practice, and one must know that a fundamental work is indeed being carried out; God willing, may you be successful.
