Leader's Statements During Visit to Nano Technology Achievements Exhibition
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Today was a very good and desirable day for me due to witnessing the outstanding work that has, thanks be to God, taken shape and is progressing in the field of nanotechnology in the country. Of course, each of these works that have been carried out and the respected individuals who have made these efforts deserve to be separately expressed gratitude and appreciation, and prayers for their advancement should be made.
Fortunately, the issue of nanotechnology is a successful experience for our country; and it demonstrates that when a group of interested, devoted, and knowledgeable individuals concentrate on a specific point and advance the work with a plan, significant and leap-like progress occurs in that work. The advancement of nanotechnology work is valuable for us not only because it has its own worth, but also because it serves as an example that we can follow in all the work of the country and set it as a standard. About ten years ago, we had a meeting with the Nanotechnology Headquarters; they provided me with a report and explained the topic of nanotechnology to us; they got to work and made progress. Today, fortunately, we see that a leap has occurred in this scientific and research area; that is, the work has progressed in a leap-like manner.
We thank God Almighty for such an event; the important thing is that you should see what the factors of this leap-like progress have been, and these factors should be preserved; the existence of a good program, stability in management, and attention to cultural and discourse-building. What I recently saw, that these student youths are pursuing this work and are following this issue at a level that exceeds the usual capabilities of our students, or that various works have been done for different sectors, this discourse-building is very important. That is, this thought, this discourse, this idea should emerge in the country that the issue of nanotechnology must be pursued. Well, nanotechnology is very important; we do not want to say it is more important and higher than all the issues of the country, than all the technical issues; no, [but] it is one of the important issues for the scientific and technical advancement of the country; we should set this as a model for our various works and preserve the very factors of progress that I have referred to some of them; that is, we should complete the program day by day. Our successes should not make us complacent; this is very important. Fortunately, in these ten years, your progress has been very good; that is, you have moved from a low rank in the world to high ranks; for example, you have reached the seventh rank in the world; well, this is very important, but this should not compel us to be satisfied with the current situation and to want to maintain this existing condition; no, move forward and do not abandon the thought of continuous progress in this field. Various talents will also be attracted; right now, the young boys and girls that I see here are very talented; if this topic had not been raised for them, this avenue for their research would not have opened, and this talent would not have emerged. We do not recognize many of the talents that exist in our country; we should open the field for these talents to be recognized and come forth. Today, we need work very much; we have a historical backwardness and a historical poverty in scientific and research fields. It is true that today our scientific acceleration is at the first level in the world and, in fact, the scientific acceleration is much higher than the average, but the art of this acceleration is that it can bring us a little forward from this historical backwardness and this historical poverty. We must continue this work to reach the forefront; why do we say the forefront? Because we have both the capability and the need for it. There are so many good talents in our country; that is, the average talent in our country is higher than the average talent in the world; this has been proven and is among the certainties. We have numerous talents that must emerge and be fruitful. Secondly, we need to progress; we need it. We see that the independent political, social, and intellectual stance of the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic causes the powerful of the world, the owners of oppressive powers, to be hostile towards us; this hostility manifests itself in many places. Well, when there is so much enmity towards us, we must strengthen ourselves and bring ourselves to the necessary power.
Fortunately, work has progressed well in all areas so far, and I ask you not to let the factors of progress here be disrupted; this issue of stability in management, completing the program, and staying away from political atmospheres. That is, one of the most important tasks is that these political motivations that you observe outside should not infiltrate this group; it would be a shame, it would ruin things. And just as it has been good so far, keep it good and do not let it deteriorate. And Dr. Setari is also present here and can help for the progress here. Just as it was shown in this chart that the budget compared to similar cases in the world has been very low, a little more should be allocated to this issue. And God willing, God Almighty will also help; we pray for you; we also pray that God will help. If we are alive, we will see you again after a while, God willing, with more advancements; and if we are not, God willing, the country will witness your advancements. And this issue of guiding work towards the market and wealth, which I observed in these reports, is very important; that is, work should be done so that these knowledge-based companies can truly utilize this product, utilize this thought; this will cause your scientific and research work to show its impact in the people's living environment; this is the guarantee of your work's progress, God willing. May you live long.
