Statements in Meeting with Families of Security Martyrs

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Thanks be to God, the Lord of the worlds, and peace and blessings be upon our master, Abu al-Qasim al-Mustafa Muhammad, and upon his pure and chosen progeny, especially the Awaited One among the people of the earth.

Welcome, dear and esteemed families of the martyrs of security. The great right of your martyrs and their families, yourselves, fathers and mothers, spouses, and children over the Iranian nation is truly indescribable. God willing, may this session, graced by your presence and the warm breath of these brothers, further awaken our hearts to the truth of God's grace and favor upon the Iranian nation.

How can we understand the value of the "security martyrs"? It can be understood from the importance and value of "security". When we recognize and understand how crucial security is for the country, we then regard those who protect security—whether from the police force, the Basij, or intelligence agencies; from anywhere—as deserving of importance, and we consider the martyr of this path among the greatest martyrs of the path of truth; this is indeed the reality.

Certainly, one of the greatest needs of any country, any society, is security. If there is no security in society, there is nothing; there is no economy, no science, no progress, no family. Security is, in fact, the foundation of all means and paths of progress for a nation and a country; this is how security is. The psychological peace of society stems from security; the possibility for the education and advancement of youth arises from security; thus, it is a great blessing from God. You observe in the Holy Quran how high God Almighty elevates the rank of security, reminding Muslims of it as a great blessing: "So let them worship the Lord of this House, who fed them against hunger and made them safe from fear"; that is, worship the God who has granted you these great blessings; He has given you security and provided you with the means for a safe and secure life. This is the importance of security. Well, if this issue is so important, then it is no surprise that those who sacrifice themselves, the selfless ones, attain martyrdom in this path; the rank of these martyrs is also very high.

Wherever there is no security and no guardians of security, there is evil; this is a general rule. Therefore, the area of responsibility of our dear youth who are active in various security sectors—of which I have mentioned—is very broad. All of these are included in this divine grace and favor of the Lord, and they are considered among the best. One person commits evil at the border, another commits evil in the streets, one commits evil through robbery in the homes and shops of others, one spreads rumors, one commits murder, one traffics drugs, or one traffics weapons; all of these are evil; anyone who stands against any of these forms and similar acts is entitled to the title of "guardian of security" and "defender of security", and this great honor belongs to them. In all these incidents, it is these dear ones who shield themselves and confront danger and take action.

There is a point here, and that is, what is the necessary and essential element for maintaining the security of a country? Some, in various analyses, in a strange understanding of the issue, imagine that if we want the country to be secure, we should not seek the tools of power; for example, "what is the necessity of having missiles with such a range that they become sensitive"! They think that in this way, they can secure the country's safety; in other words, they think that if you want the country to be secure, you should be weak and not provide yourself with the tools of power; some judge this way; this is wrong. What maintains security for a country is its "national power"; the strength of that country; being strong in every aspect: strong in science, strong in economy, strong in defense capabilities, strong in armaments; these are what preserve and secure a country's security. Whenever we, due to the poor policies of our rulers, turned away from seeking the tools of power, the enemy dominated us. In the Qajar era, in the Pahlavi era, this calamity befell this nation; they did not strengthen the nation. Thus, you see in World War I and World War II—neither of which had any connection to Iran and they declared neutrality—our country was occupied; when a country lacks the ability to defend itself, this is what happens. This is the unforgivable sin of incompetent rulers—some incompetent, some treacherous and dependent on this and that—who raised the nation weak so that it could not defend itself; naturally, its security would be lost. The way to secure security is power; the Iranian nation and the officials of the country must digest this: they must become strong.

We have repeatedly stated this: we must become strong. The nation must strengthen itself more and more every day. A strong Iran is one that can defend itself, can secure its own security and progress, and can also extend the blessings of this progress and strength to others. For a strong Iran, strength is necessary. Of course, strength is not just about building armaments; scientific strength, political capabilities, managerial capabilities, all of these are among the things that ensure safety and lead society to safety. Thus, it is our duty, the duty of all officials, to strengthen the country through education, armaments, and various advancements.

An important point regarding security—which is good for me to mention here in the presence of you dear families of martyrs—is the issue of "psychological security" in society, which receives less attention; psychological security of society; that is, not causing anxiety among the people, not instilling fear and doubt in the people; this is very important. Some, with the news they provide, with the analyses they make, with the interpretations they give of events, create doubt among the people, instill fear; this is rejected from the perspective of God Almighty; the Quran is explicit in this regard; the Quran is explicit in this regard: "If the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is a disease and the rumor-mongers in the city do not cease"; "rumor-mongers" means these very people. "Rumor-mongers" are those who create anxiety and fear among the people; if they do not cease their actions, God Almighty commands the Prophet: "We will surely incite you against them"; you are commanded to go after them and punish them. The importance of this issue of psychological security is immense. The rumor-mongers are those who disrupt the psychological security of society, create rumors; some, out of malice, provide incorrect analyses from various issues.

Those who are connected to the virtual space should pay attention to these points! Not everything that comes to mind should be published in the virtual space; observe its effects; see what impact it has on the people, on the thoughts of the people, on the spirits of the people. Those who are to make decisions regarding the virtual space—whose name is frequently mentioned and discussed—should pay attention to this aspect of the issue. They should consider how a wrong analysis, a false news, a misinterpretation of an issue can cause anxiety, doubt, and fear among the people. These are things that destroy the psychological security of society. In the discussion of security, this issue of psychological security is important, and the country's officials, just as they are obliged to maintain social security, the security of streets and markets, and the security of the borders and the homes of the people, are also obliged to maintain the psychological security of the people; this is among their duties.

The enemies also take advantage of this. Today, the enemies of nations and countries who covet the interests of countries they can covet do not only enter with heavy weapons, with hard wars, but they enter with soft wars. One of the aspects of soft war is this psychological insecurity of society; this is one of them. You have seen; you have observed in recent years how enemies have used the virtual space to advance their agendas. Attention must be paid to this meaning. This is regarding security issues.

The families of the security martyrs should take pride, be dignified. Your youth attained martyrdom—of course, they achieved high divine ranks—they caused you grief, your hearts, your souls, your emotions suffered due to the loss of these dear ones, it is true, but take pride; they moved in the path of goodness, they were martyred in the path of goodness, they shielded themselves for an important cause, and the result of their efforts is that the country can be secure; if they are not there, if the providers and guardians of security are not there, numerous problems will arise for the Iranian nation. We all must appreciate them, and you should take pride.

Regarding the issues of the wicked Zionist regime, I will briefly mention two points and move on. First, there is a significant negligence in the world regarding the wicked Zionist regime. Governments, nations—especially governments—global organizations like the United Nations and similar bodies are truly negligent in the issue of confronting the Zionist regime. The actions that the regime has taken in Gaza and is taking, and in Lebanon, are among the most barbaric war crimes. War, of course, is a difficult matter undoubtedly, but war also has rules, has laws, has limits. It is not the case that when someone fights with someone else, they trample all these limits underfoot, as the criminal gang ruling over occupied Palestine is doing. The world must stand against these; governments must stand against them, especially Islamic governments must stand against them. The discussion is not about whether to help or not; any little help to this regime is among the ugliest and greatest sins; there is no doubt about that; no, they must stand against it so that these crimes are not committed.

A global coalition must be formed—a political coalition, an economic coalition, and if necessary, a military coalition—against the wicked Zionist regime that is committing the most barbaric war crimes today. Well, "war crime" is one of the criminal titles in the norms of today's world; that is, today in the world, war crimes are condemned; it is not just that we condemn them; no, the whole world, all international courts—those that have been rightly established, those that have been unjustly established—condemn war crimes. Well, is there a greater war crime than this? Ten thousand children are killed, ten thousand women or more are martyred; we must stand against them. Our demand from the world and especially from the Islamic world is to form a global coalition against the Zionist regime.

The second point relates to this wicked act that they carried out here two nights ago. Well, they made a mistake; they are of course exaggerating. Their exaggeration is wrong, but be aware that underestimating it is also wrong; that is, to say that it was nothing, it was not important, and so on, this is also wrong. The miscalculations of the Zionist regime must be disrupted; they are suffering from miscalculations regarding Iran; they do not know Iran, they do not know the youth of Iran, they do not know the nation of Iran, they have not yet been able to correctly understand the power, capability, and initiative of the Iranian nation; we must make them understand this. The quality of the work must be recognized and understood correctly by our officials, and whatever is in the best interest of this country and this nation must be done. They must know who the Iranian nation is, how the youth of Iran are. This very thought, this motivation, this bravery, this readiness that exists today in the Iranian nation is a source of security; we must preserve this.

We ask God Almighty to keep us steadfast on the path of truth, on the path of Islam, on the path of Imam Khomeini (may his soul be sanctified), and to protect you dear youth for us.
